The wood - the soul of the table tennis bat
The core of your table tennis bat is rightly considered a true natural product . As such, each wood and each veneer joint has its own unique character. Therefore, every time you change the rubber, you should check whether the old wood is still the right one.
This is especially true if the veneers are already damaged because they have come into contact with the table edge too often.
The sponge
On medium-fast woods:
For normal players, 1.5mm - 1.8mm, for advanced players, 1.8mm - 2.0mm, and for experienced players, 2.0mm - 2.5mm for those with more training effort. Some players combine pimpled rubbers with pimpled rubbers.
-
The advantages :
Disruption of the opponent's game, low susceptibility to spin on serves and topspins, as well as more pressure on counter-attacks. -
Difficulties :
The changed rhythm of play not only disrupts the opponent, but also requires the player's stroke to be adapted to the ball.
The covering
The right surface is actually always an issue.
But even if you're very happy with your rubber, you should remain vigilant, because every rubber loses its original good qualities after about 60 hours of play due to heavy use. There's a high risk that you'll imperceptibly get used to it. And without even realizing it, your playing development will be hampered.
And one more thing:
If you wait too long to change your rubber, you'll actually have trouble getting used to a new rubber of exactly the same type, because the new rubber will have more speed and impact. Only then will you realize how worn out your old rubber was. Often, however, you suspect that a new rubber could help you overcome individual weaknesses more quickly and easily. If you're pursuing a specific goal in your development, don't be afraid to try out completely new rubbers for your table tennis racket.
