The new Pro version of the SpinLord Sternenfall is not a completely new rubber, but a slightly improved version of the popular SpinLord Sternenfall.
The old version of the Stenenfall will be discontinued in the medium term and this version will then be the only version available.
The pimple heads are of course ribbed as before. The arrangement of the knobs (extremely wide apart) is also unchanged.
The rubber compound is basically the same as before, but it is slightly harder (i.e. quite hard overall). The rubber base is also slightly thinner.
This results in a slightly higher disruptive effect overall with the same control and slightly higher speed. The Sternenfall Pro is also slightly less sensitive to incoming rotation.
The Sternenfall Pro has a linear ball acceleration, i.e. neither a "flummery effect" nor a strong dampening effect on passive shots. The disruptive effect of this rubber is therefore mainly caused by the bending of the pimples.
Players who have previously played Sternenfall will be able to play Sternenfall Pro without having to make any changes. This rubber should also be easy to master for all other players.
When it comes to passive blocking balls, the Thorn Shine is of course still unrivalled. The Sternenfall Pro is controlled here, but not particularly dangerous. But for active, aggressive disruptive shots, the Sternenfall Pro is better (and also more dangerous) than the Dornenglanz and also better than almost all other long pimples.
Due to its high insensitivity to incoming rotation, almost all of the opponent's balls can be attacked effortlessly. In contrast to other rubbers, even the ox version of Sternenfall is ideal for a more aggressive style of play. The ball flight curve of this rubber is flat and rather long.
The undercut defence is also flat and dangerous. In contrast to the old version, the Pro version is even more effective.
Sternenfall Pro is the right choice for pimple players who are looking for a fairly fast, easy to play pimple with a hard ball attack for an active disruptive game.
The penetrating power is significantly higher than with slower and softer long pimples (such as the Strahlkraft or the Dornenglanz III) and therefore also the disruptive effect.
In the version with sponge, the sponge is now significantly slower than the old version sponge. In contrast to the ox version, the Pro version in 1.0 mm is therefore slower than the old version in 1.0 mm! The slower sponge provides more control without reducing the disruptive effect
All in all, the Sternenfall Pro offers a very attractive ratio of speed, control and disruptive effect. If passive blocking only plays a subordinate role in your own playing system, this rubber could be the right choice.
While Sternenfall was primarily suitable for players from lower and middle divisions, Sternenfall Pro can also be played effectively in higher leagues without losing its suitability for players switching from pimple-in rubbers.
